"I can't abandon my dog for anyone," said Karishma Walia to an "eligible bachelor" and a prospective groom. And with a statement like this one, her dog Lucy must be one of the happiest dogs on the planet right now. Originally from Bengaluru, Karishma works in Gurgaon and she was recently in talks for getting into an arranged marriage with a guy from New Delhi. She was under a lot of pressure from her family members who thought that he was an excellent match for her because he was "good-looking and well-off."

But all of this didn’t matter when the guy told her that he would not be comfortable with her dog living with them after marriage. She instantly knew that her answer to this marriage proposal would be an absolute no. She told him that it would be an issue if her dog cannot stay with her and that the marriage would not work out.

Finding the situation unbelievable for some reason, the guy continued to try and convince her by saying things like - "It may be a temporary phase in life when you like dogs. We are talking of your life here." But how can such a thought come between a dog lover and her pet!
“I have been talking to him for over a week now. I spoke to him couple of times more, and he pissed me off with the way he was enforcing his decisions on me...He would say things like ‘family should be a priority and not career. I gave up when he commented about my dog. I don’t know why my family still thinks he’s an eligible bachelor,” Karishma told Buzzfeed.
An image of her conversation with the guy has gone viral on the Internet since then, and Karishma is getting incredible support from people on social media as well. After the guy told her to marry the dog, he continued to try and convince her with more messages about how he could not believe she is doing this. Karishma's love for dogs is visible in her Facebook bio too, which says, "For my dog, I am the one. And that's all that matters. #DogLove #DogsOfFacebook #ILoveYouLucyWalia" And yes, Lucy is on Facebook too. Featured image credit: Facebook
